Intro to Conjoint Experiments | Exercise - 2

1 Design your own CJ experiment

Guidelines:

  1. Relevant and interesting RQ in your discipline [see exercise first lab]
    • Literature is relevant
    • Use previous knowledge and avoid ‘shooting in the dark’
    • However, it can be exploratory
  2. Justifiable design choices
  3. Pay attention to external and internal validity
  4. [if you want to pre-test it, it should be in English and focus on the US so that we can collect responses from Reddit (/r/samplesize) or a HIT platform]

Guidelines:

  1. Basic design choices:
    • Attributes (realism vs. theory testing)
    • Levels
    • Framing/priming [if RQ requires so]
  2. Other design choices:
    • Uniform or non-uniform distribution?
    • Restrictions on combination of certain attributes/levels (please include if necessary)
    • Attribute order constrains?
    • How many profiles per choice-sets? (usually 2 unless specific needs)
    • How many tasks/sample size?
